What is a Dental Implant?

The first part of an implant will be the placement which includes a cylindrical and/or tapered post, usually made of titanium, that serves as a substitute for the tooth root and provides a strong and sturdy foundation for one or more replacement teeth.

After the implant placement, we will let the implant site heal anywhere from 3-4 months and then bring you back for the implant restoration/crown. The implant crown is the part that appears like a healthy, white tooth. Tooth-shaped crowns are used to “cap” existing teeth to restore their strength and natural appearance.
